Practical guide
Choose the PDF operation before uploading
Merge joins complete files; reorder changes page sequence; split or extract keeps selected pages; delete removes selected positions; rotate changes orientation; and crop changes the visible page box. These operations solve different problems even when the resulting document appears similar. Choose the narrowest tool so fewer document properties are rewritten.
OCR estimates text from page images, while PDF-to-Word extracts an existing text layer and cannot promise layout fidelity. Grayscale and visual redaction flatten pages, which can remove search, links, forms, accessibility structure, or metadata. Password protection limits opening but cannot prevent an authorized recipient from copying or sharing content.
Keep the source until the download has been opened and checked for page count, order, orientation, text, forms, signatures, attachments, and file size. Use certified desktop software and independent verification for legal redaction, regulated records, digital signatures, or archival preservation.
- Choose one operation
- Understand what is rewritten
- Inspect the download
- Keep the source file
