The math behind the result
OCR detects character shapes and predicts words from the selected language model. It can confuse similar characters such as 0/O and 1/I, especially in small, blurred, handwritten, or low-contrast text.

Common questions
Is my image uploaded for OCR?
No. The OCR engine runs in your browser. Engine and language-model files are served by CalcBusiness when you start; your image and extracted text are not uploaded or sent in analytics.
Which languages and formats are supported?
This version recognizes printed English or French from JPG, PNG, and WebP images. Convert a HEIC photo first. PDF files, handwriting, and mixed-language documents are outside this tool’s tested scope.
Will the extracted text be exact?
Not always. OCR may misread digits, punctuation, accents, handwriting, rotated pages, or small and low-contrast text. Check the result against the original before copying financial or business details.
Why does the first run take longer?
Your browser downloads the selected OCR model from CalcBusiness on first use and can cache that model locally for later runs. The selected image itself remains on your device.
